Two from One

My client inherited a traditional ruby and diamond ring from her grandmother, and wanted to use the ruby in a ring for herself, and possibly the diamonds in another piece. The original ring had an oval ruby as the central stone. The challenge is making a new ring that the client adores, whilst respecting the intention or feel of the original piece. In this instance this ring was to be worn daily. I designed and make a chunky 18ct warm yellow gold ring, featuring the ruby in a bezel setting, flanked by gold, trillion citrines. We did then use the diamonds from Grannys ring to make a modern eternity ring.

Gold The most beautiful and highly sought-after precious metal has been used to make jewellery since long before the beginning of recorded history.
Ruby The most famed and fabled red gemstone, ruby is highly desirable due to its colour, durability and lustre and can command the highest per carat price of any coloured gemstone.
Citrine is a member of the quartz family; it is a quartz crystal or cluster which ranges in colour from pale yellow to dark sherry orange. Once widely considered as a poor relation to topaz, citrine is enjoying something of a revival in contemporary jewellery. It is a beautiful stone found around the world. Citrine is a bright, sunny and warm gemstone which is said to lift the spirits and heal the body.
Diamond We use high quality (G SI) diamonds, sourced in London's Hatton Garden and individually selected.
